Connecting IC2/IC4 to using Host Comm (IP Client)

This article will guide you to adding an IC2 or IC4 ocntroller the software using the controller's Host Communication protocol

Considerations Before Setup

  • Web Client software version 11.33.99 or newer is required.

  • The Azure controller must be pre-configured in the Hardware Tree.

  • The Azure Driver must already be added in Hardware Manager.

  • The Azure controller must be accessible from the server via port 443.


Step 1:  Download the Host Com Certificate

  1. Log in to the Web Client, go to Configuration > Hardware Manager.

  2. Select the Azure Driver (“Access Control Driver”).

  3. In the Driver property, scroll down the bottom to the Host COM Certificate field, and click on the Download Certificate link.

  4. Save this certificate file the the Downloads folder:


Step 2: Copy the controller's Host Com password

  1. Next, in Hardware Manager, select the controller you want to bring online. 

  2. In the Controller properties window, scroll down to the Host COM Password field and click on the clipboard icon to copy the password


Step 3: Configuring Host Communications

  1. Next, login to the IC2 or IC4 controller. The default username/password is admin/pass

  2. Go to Admin>Host Communications page

  3. In the Host Communication page:

    • Click on the 'Upload Certificate' button and select the certificate that was downloaded in Step 1

    • Check the box "Host Communications Enabled"

    • in the Host field, enter the IP address of the UnityIS Server

    • in the Port field, enter 9723

    • In the Connection Password field, click the 'Change' button and paste the password that was copied in Step 2

    • Click on the Save button at the top

In about 15-30 seconds, you should see the controller come online in UnityIS
